Call to order and Welcome – Bob C
          Approval of May email minutes: Motion - Jerry       Second – Ken   Motion carried
 
Read some letters received: HD and Margaret resigned so they can travel. They will still be big contributors at any event. We appreciate their diligent service!
          Western Area Power Admin – They will be rebuilding the power line in a few years thru BICA and want public input as they formulate plans.
         
Report from John Keck - BICA
 
New Interim Supt. – Sande McDermott will be at Ft Smith on Thursday to begin her assignment, John will get her up dated on the goings on in BICA presently. She plans to be at our LakeCelebration next week end.
 
Tony Schetzsle, Deputy Regional Director is coming in from NPS Denver region in the next few weeks to visit local interests concerning the hiring of the new superintendent. Region wants to get local input from both the north and south ends of BICA to assist them in hiring the new superintendent.
 
HSB Campground – The water and electrical are not available yet awaiting approval from NPS
 
HSB Well bid is being prepared by NPS Regional office in Denver with the new spec’s.
 
The new HSB boat dock is still on hold.
 
John is awaiting information from NPS concerning how to address boating hazards on the lake.
 
HSB grounds keeper, Troy is doing a great job and his efforts can be easily seen and enjoyed!
 
The Marina and boat tour concessions are progressing very well. There is a lot of excitement among the visitors about these services.
 
As announced last week by BICA there will be no entrance fees charged from Friday June 20 to noon on Sunday June  22. Also there are no campground use fees or reservations at HSBend this year.
 
John was thanked for all his extra efforts and excused as we continued with Board items.
 
FOBHL Board Member Committee Work
 
Bob C reported for HD & Margaret – Hwy 37 issues at CETCO / RRX are improving some days at least. WYODOT is keeping a close watch here and plans to enforce regulations.
 
Ferrell Mangus – Mustang Day Committee rep for FOBHL – June 21 event
                             Shuttle service needs another vehicle and driver.
 
Bob N, Jerry – Report on advertising for June 21: tagged radio ads, TV ads, newspaper, banners, radio talk shows, service club presentations
 
David & Marilyn – Food vendors for June 21 are working to comply with BICA regulations and permits.
 
Ken, Lisa & Joe – Promo activities for BHLake 2008 season and June 21
 
Ken – About 20 boats and drivers are tentatively scheduled to help with the boat rides. Some have asked if FOBHL could buy some of the fuel? After a discussion of our finances it was concluded that a non-profit tax contribution certificate would be issued to those wanting one.
 
Joe – Inner tubes are being collected in Lovell, Powell and Cody. They can be kept by the marina for beach use later. The Bighorn Lake Cat fish tournament paper work for July 12 at SouthBighornLake is close to being completed and approved by the agencies. Promo materials will be forth coming.
 
Margaret & Rena – The FOBHL booth will be in a sheltered spot to block the wind and the sun. We will have map set 1-2 and the new map set 2-3 to give away.
 
Jerry & Bob C – The Day Board project is still on hold, they are working with Mike D as soon as his crew is available.
 
Darece Grant – Dock helpers are being contacted and instructed for the event. All helpers on Saturday will be wearing a bright yellow colored vest for identification purposes and thus it will be easier for visitors to locate a helper if needed.
 
Bob C – Coordinate with BICA: permits, insurance, parking, mooring buoys, cleanup, BHC Search & Rescue boats and first aid, details?? Celebration time is 9am to 6pm on Saturday.
 
 
 
Ongoing items for comment or questions:
 
Ken reported on USBR-MTAO Bighorn River Issues Group Meeting May 21 in Billings. This was one of the best since some definite documents were reviewed and comments by the agencies set several items in order that have been in question for years.
 
The weekly conference calls continue with stakeholders of BHLake on summer water management, these are very helpful.
 
New # 3 & 4 lake maps - NW College printed these so they are ready for June 21 also maps #5 & 6 is being designed by Ashley D this summer.
 
Ken and Elaine Harvey conducted a tour the end of May with Senator Barrasso’s chief of staff from DC.
 
The driftwood burn went very well, only ashes left….With the high water a lot of driftwood is floating in BighornLake…boaters be cautious.
 
June BHLake Operation Plan - continued high inflows and high releases
 
Jerry reported on the meeting May 9 in Bridger between WGF and MFWP personal. This was a very good meeting and some basic agreements were reached. There will be future contact on the VARQ reservoir management plan used by the Columbia River Basin System (namely the Libby and Hungary Horse reservoirs). Also we have requested a presentation at our Bighorn River Issues Group meeting July 29, in Lovell so others can learn how it is working.
