SouthBighornLake Ice Conditions
Dec 18, 2008
The unusually early cold weather has provided some fine early ice on all the lakes and ponds. Lets all remember to have good ice sense being sure we check each area before we take our steps. Most of the locations have some snow cover making visual ice depth determination poor.. Use that ice spud to take each next step until you have scouted your fishing area. We expect fantastic ice fishing this winter!

There is NO driving on the ice at Bighorn Lake.
Be sure to check Wyoming fishing regulations as to creel limit and use of minnows.

As of Thursday Dec 18
Pond 5 - 6" of clear ice
Horseshoe Bend near boat ramps - 10 to 12" of clear ice. At the ramp there is some water over run as usual onto the ice. Get on to the ice from the boat slip/fishing dock area.
Mormon Pt south was 6 to 8"
Jim Ck bay was over 10"

Remember to keep in mind both Jim Ck and Mormon Pt  are just off the river channel where ice will be thinner. Check your maps if unsure where the channel runs.
